Mouse models of infection of the central nervous system (CNS) have been used to study retroviral-induced neurologic disease. Ecotropic-neurotropic murine leukemia virus (MuLV) infection of susceptible neonatal mice causes a neurologic disease characterized by progressive hindlimb paralysis.
