The mutagenic effect of griseofulvin was demonstrated in a wing somatic mosaicism test (SMART) in different Drosophila lines. The mutagenic effect of this agent is accompanied by a pronounced toxic effect on Drosophila larvae and by a teratogenic effect, which is manifested in the reduction of ommatidia, phenocopying the mutation ey (eyeless-4:2.0).
