Distinct genetic variants of apolipoprotein (apo) AI have been shown to influence concentrations of high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol. The genetic polymorphism of apo AIV may modulate HDL-cholesterol, plasma triglycerides, and lipoprotein(a) concentrations.
