Nucleoside 2-deoxyribosyltransferase catalyzes cleavage of a 2'-deoxyribosylnucleoside (A) to a nucleobase (P) with deoxyribosylation of the enzyme. Substrates quenched the intrinsic fluorescence of native enzyme (E) and a catalytically inactive mutant enzyme (E98A enzyme).
