Rupture of an intracranial aneurysm (IA) can result in aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage (ASAH), a severe and often fatal form of stroke. The configuration of the intracranial arteries - collectively known as the circle of Willis (CoW) - influences the risk of IA development and rupture.
