Oligodendrocytes (OLs), the myelinating cells of the central nervous system, are particularly prone to pathogenic G-to-A mutations, such as PLP1A243V, which causes Pelizaeus-Merzbacher disease (PMD), a lethal hypomyelinating disorder lacking effective therapy.
