The Haarlem genotype is a significant yet understudied part of the Euro-American lineage of Mycobacterium tuberculosis, characterized by unique pathogenetic features. Spoligotyping is a primary method for its detection, but it is not suitable for isolates with long blocks of deleted spacers.
