In aging hypopituitary dwarf mice (dwdw), articular chondrocytes are poorly supplied with organelles; aggregation of collagen in the cartilaginous matrix is decreased, and aging of the articular cartilage is retarded as compared to non-dwarf mice (Dwdw or DwDw) of the same strain.
