Gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GISTs) are the most common mesenchymal malignancy of the gastrointestinal tract. Most GISTs harbor mutations in oncogenes, such as KIT, and are treated with tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs), such as imatinib.
