BACKGROUND: Paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria (PNH) is an acquired hematopoietic stem cell disorder characterized by PIG-A mutations, leading to glycophosphatidylinositol (GPI)-anchored proteins deficiency that triggers hemolysis - a hallmark of the disease.
