Short-Patch Double Illegitimate Recombination (SPDIR) has been recently identified as a rare mutation mechanism. During SPDIR, ectopic DNA single-strands anneal with genomic DNA at microhomologies and get integrated during DNA replication, presumably acting as primers for Okazaki fragments.
