OBJECTIVE: Intensive glycemic control reduced coronary artery disease (CAD) events among the Action to Control Cardiovascular Risk in Diabetes (ACCORD) study participants with the haptoglobin (Hp)2-2 phenotype but not in participants without the Hp2-2 phenotype.
