Reliable preoperative diagnosis of thyroid nodules remained challenging because of the inconclusiveness of fine-needle aspiration (FNA) cytology. In the present study, 583 formalin-fixed paraffin embedded (FFPE) thyroid nodule tissues and 161 FNA specimens were enrolled retrospectively.
