Aldehyde dehydrogenase (ALDH) enzymatic activity is a marker of cancer-initiating cells (CIC) in many tumor types. Our group and others have found that ALDH1A family inhibitors (ALDHi) can preferentially induce death of ovarian CIC in established ovarian cancer.
