The matrix (M) protein of rhabdoviruses locates between the inner line of the viral envelope and the nucleocapsids core and plays an important role in viral replication. In the present study, we aimed to rescue a mutant of VHSV genotype IVa that has artificial mutations in the M protein (M-D62A E181A).
