BACKGROUND: Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) patients with a Fms-like tyrosine kinase 3 (FLT3) mutation have a high incidence of relapse despite allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-HSCT) and a subsequent poor prognosis.
