BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE: Variants in SCN8A, the NaV 1.6 channel's coding gene, are characterized by a variety of symptoms, including intractable epileptic seizures, psychomotor delay, progressive cognitive decline, autistic features, ataxia or dystonia.
