PURPOSE: 6-mercaptopurine(6MP)/methotrexate maintenance therapy is essential to reduce relapse of childhood acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL). Common germline variants in TPMT cause low activity of thiopurine methyltransferase (TPMT) and higher 6MP metabolite (TGN) levels.
