(EHEC) is a clinically important human pathogen causing hemorrhagic colitis and hemolytic uremic syndrome. We found that a bacteriophage-encoded virulence factor of EHEC, Shiga toxin (Stx), suppresses caspase-11-mediated activation of the cytosolic LPS sensing pathway.
