Emodin is the main toxic component in Chinese medicinal herbs such as rhubarb. Our previous studies demonstrated that genetic polymorphisms of UDP-glucuronosyltransferase 2B7 (UGT2B7) had an effect on the glucuronidation and detoxification of emodin.
