OBJECTIVES: In non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), anaplastic lymphoma kinase (ALK) rearrangement identifies a subgroup of patients who are sensitive to ALK tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs). ALK fusion is extremely rare in small-cell lung cancer (SCLC).
