ABSTRACT Bicyclomycin (BCM) is a clinically promising antibiotic that is biosynthesized by Streptomyces cinnamoneus DSM 41675. BCM is structurally characterized by a core cyclo( l -Ile- l -Leu) 2,5-diketopiperazine (DKP) that is extensively oxidized.
