BACKGROUND: Catecholaminergic polymorphic ventricular tachycardia (CPVT) is an arrhythmogenic disorder caused by mutations in the cardiac ryanodine receptor RyR2 that increase diastolic calcium cation (Ca2+) leak from the sarcoplasmic reticulum (SR).
