Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a complex endocrine syndrome, resulting from the interaction of gene variants and environmental factors. PCOS is viewed as a proinflammatory state and is characterized by hyperandrogenism, hyperinsulinemia, and over-weight.
