ABSTRACT Vitamin B 12 deficiency causes megaloblastic anemia and neurologic disorder in humans. Gene defects of transcobalamin (TC) and the transcobalamin receptor (TCblR), needed for cellular uptake of the TC‐bound B 12 , do not confer embryonic lethality.
