Contrary to patients with a cationic trypsinogen gene (PRSS1) mutations, Serine protease inhibitor Kazal-type 1 (SPINK1) heterozygote gene mutation carriers have a very low penetrance for acute, acute recurrent and/or chronic pancreatitis.
