OBJECTIVE: The most abundant neurotrophin in the mammalian brain is brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF), which acts through binding to neurotrophic tyrosine kinase receptor type 2 (NTRK2) and to nerve growth factor receptor (NGFR).
