SecDF interacts with the SecYEG translocon in bacteria and enhances protein export in a proton-motive-force-dependent manner. Vibrio alginolyticus, a marine-estuarine bacterium, contains two SecDF paralogs, V.SecDF1 and V.SecDF2.
