BACKGROUND: Mutations in the epidermal growth factor receptor gene (EGFR) are found in around half of Asian patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). For this reason, EGFR tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKI) are often prescribed depending on the EGFR status.
