OBJECTIVES: Chromosomal ploidy is a major risk stratification tool for acute B-cell lymphoblastic leukemia (B-ALL). Low hypodiploidy and near-haploidy are thought to be confined to pediatric B-ALL and associated with a poor prognosis.
