The structure of human Methylenetetrahydrofolate Reductase (MTHFR) is not known either by NMR or by X-ray methods. Phosphorylation seems to play an important role in the functioning of this flavoprotein. MTHFR catalyzes an irreversible reaction in homocysteine metabolism.
