Nucleophosmin 1 (NPM1) is a nucleolar protein involved in ribosome biogenesis, stress responses and maintaining genome stability. One-third of acute myeloid leukemias (AMLs) are associated with aberrant localization of NPM1 to the cytoplasm (NPM1c+).
