When two, directly-repeated copies of the origin of transfer (oriT) of the conjugatively mobilizable, broad host-range plasmid R1162 are cloned into bacteriophage M13mp9 DNA, they undergo recombination in the presence of one of the R1162-encoded proteins required for mobilization [Meyer, R.
