Intragenic complementation was detected within the bacteriophage T4 DNA polymerase gene. Complementation was observed between specific amino (N)-terminal, temperature-sensitive (ts) mutator mutants and more carboxy (C)-terminal mutants lacking DNA polymerase polymerizing functions.
