Ticagrelor is a direct-acting, oral, reversibly binding P2Y(12) receptor antagonist. As a cyclopentyltriazolopyrimidine, ticagrelor represents a new chemical class of agents that do not require metabolic activation and have consistent ability to inhibit platelet aggregation.
