The assembly of a polyisoprenoid side chain and its transfer to para-hydroxybenzoate are the first two steps of coenzyme Q biosynthesis. In yeast these reactions are catalyzed by hexaprenyl pyrophosphate synthetase and PHB:polyprenyltransferase, respectively.
