The adenylate cyclase system of the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae contains the CYR1 polypeptide, responsible for catalyzing formation of cyclic AMP (cAMP) from ATP, and two RAS polypeptides, which mediate stimulation of cAMP synthesis of guanine nucleotides.
