Fatty acid amide hydrolase (FAAH) is the primary degradative enzyme of the endocannabinoid anandamide (N-arachidonoylethanolamine), which activates cannabinoid CB(1) and CB(2) receptors. FAAH disruption reduces nociception in a variety of acute rodent models of inflammatory pain.
