Glioma stem cells (GSCs) are known to be maintained within a "vascular niche"; thereby, disruption of this microenvironment using antiangiogenesis agents is a promising therapeutic modality. However, this regimen leads to treatment failure and tumor recurrence in patients with glioblastoma multiforme (GBM).
