Sarcoidosis is a systemic inflammatory disease characterised by appearance of granulomas. Precise etiology has not been elucidated. Osteopontin (Opn) is a Th1 cytokine whose levels have been found increased in granulomas and serum samples from patients with sarcoidosis.
