Medullary thyroid cancer( MTC) is a neuroendocrine tumor arising from neural-crest-derived, calcitonin-secreting parafollicular C cells within the thyroid. Serum calcitonin (CT) is the most specific and sensitive marker for MTC for both the primary diagnosis and postsurgical follow-up.
