OBJECTIVE: Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a complex autoimmune disease with a strong genetic contribution to its pathogenesis. Proinflammatory cytokines play an important role in the inflammatory process in RA patients. The synthesis of cytokines is genetically determined.
