Susceptibility of Mycobacterium tuberculosis to the second-line antitubercular drug thiacetazone (TAC) requires activation by the monoxygenase, EthA. Here, we report isolation of spontaneous mutants in Mycobacterium bovis BCG that are highly resistant to TAC, but carry a functional EthA.
