INTRODUCTION: The CEBPA gene encodes a transcription factor, CCAAT/enhancer binding protein (C/EBP)alpha. Expression of the wildtype protein is essential for the lineage specific differentiation of myelocytic haematopoietic precursors into mature neutrophils.
