The enzyme folylpoly-gamma-glutamase synthethase (FPGS) plays an important role in the intracellular polyglutamation of the disease-modifying antirheumatic drug methotrexate (MTX) and the length of the polyglutamated MTX product correlates with the time that MTX resides in the cell.
