An earlier experimental study, which involved the directed evolution of enantioselective lipase variants from Pseudomonas aeruginosa as catalysts in the hydrolytic kinetic resolution of 2-methyl-decanoic acid p-nitrophenyl ester, provided a mutant with six mutations.
