BACKGROUND AND AIMS: The disposition and sterol-lowering effect of ezetimibe are associated with long-lasting enterosystemic circulation, which is initiated by secretion of ezetimibe and its glucuronide via intestinal P-glycoprotein (P-gp) (ABCB1) and the multidrug resistance-associated protein 2 (MRP2) (ABCC2) into gut lumen.
