HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors (statins) are widely used in the treatment and prevention of atherosclerosis. Here we demonstrate that the HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor simvastatin potentiates TNFalpha-mediated apoptosis and TNFalpha signaling in human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs).
