LARGE is a glycosyltransferase known to glycosylate alpha-dystroglycan, a component of the dystrophin-associated glycoprotein complex. Spontaneous deletions in the Large gene (Large(myd) and Large(vls)) result in muscular dystrophy accompanied by heart, brain, and eye defects.
