We have shown that the tobacco nitrosamine 4-(methylnitrosamino)-1-(3-pyridyl)-1-butanone (NNK) is an agonist for -adrenergic receptors (beta-ARs) and increased DNA synthesis of human lung adenocarcinoma cells with features of bronchiolar Clara cells by binding to these receptors.
